When DRM goes bad #2

Here's another example of buying content online and then the shop closing - the customer is left with music they cannot play anymore. This time its the Virgin Music Store.

After reading about .tk domain names on the BBC, I decided to register for free. Now you can read the ape with a load of advertising at the top but with a smaller address. Mmmmm.....

Don't Look Back: The House of Love

House of Love - Camden - Koko- 2007I visited the capital this week to do a spot of shopping and to see the original line up of The House of Love playing their first Creation Records album in its entirety. The event took place at Koko in Camden, just over the road from Mornington Crescent.

Several hundred, balding, bespectacled, white men gathered in eager anticipation of that guilty pleasure; one of your favourite bands playing "the old stuff", not trying to foist their new material on you. The band took a few songs to warm up but were going at full pelt by the time they got to "Salome". The encore consisted of tracks from their "German Import" album and a Guy Chadwick solo release which was written at the same time. They found an appreciative applaudience®.

Afterwards, a selection of the crowd visited "London's most fashionable pub", the Hawley Arms in Camden Lock. There were no fashionable or famous people there because they had all scarpered somewhere else after the pub was labelled "London's most fashionable pub" in every newspaper and magazine.

Def: app●laud●ience®: spectators at an event who are moved to clap to show their approval of the proceedings.

Knocked up

I was amused at the cinema the other day while watching the comedy film "Knocked up". It sounds like its going to be a typical Hollywood pregnancy film, which it is in structure, but it is much, much better than that. It is rude and funny and I laughed like a drain.
Knocked up movie still
